A few words about the Orchestra

BalticAlians Chamber Orchestra was established in November 2018 on the initiative of Jan Staruch, Rafał Marek Wiśniewski and Janina Olszewska. The name of the orchestra was created by combining the word Baltic (from Latin Balticium), meaning the Baltic Sea, and the word Alians in the sense of an alliance or brotherhood. The idea of create Orchestra, was born out of the shared passion of students of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk for string chamber music and the willingness to share it with others.

Because of strengths as youth, enthusiasm and talent, the group create the most inspiring and promising team operating in Poland. The experience based of knowledge of greates virtuosos (conductors and soloists) allows orchestra aim to break the pattern of classical music concerts. The main goal is to combine the craftsmanship of string instruments with an innovative approach to music. Last year, the orchestra organized a series of concerts with honoured participation of many professional musicians of world renown, among others: Karolina Piątkowska Nowicka (leader of the Polish Baltic Philharmonic second violin group and first violinist of the NEOQUARTET), Robert Kwiatkowski (concertmaster of the Polish Baltic Philharmonic and HASEANTICA chamber orchestra) and George Tchitchinadze (artistic director of Polish BalticPhilharmonic). In autumn 2019, BalticAlians organized an international project, with the participation of such stars as Jakub Jakowicz (Solist, Professor in Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, and second violinist of Zehetmair Quartet) and Christian Elliott (Leader of Irish Chamber Orchestra cello group and cellist and in Phoenix Piano Trio) at the Polish Baltic Philharmonic in Gdansk. The Orchestra also took part in the „NeoArte Syntezator Sztuki” (NeoArte Synthesizee of Art) international festival of contemporary music participate in premiere of famous Polish compousers pieces. In COVID-19 pandemic, orchestra did not discontinue her targets and performed recording of Wojciech Kilar’s Orawa with Sebastian Karpiel-Bulecka (leader of Zakopower crew) a guest appearance. In september 2020, BalticAlians took part in the premiere of the song „Polychromie Świętojańskie” by Agnieszka Stulgińska at the St. John’s Center organized by the Baltic Sea Cultural Center.

Karolina
Piątkowska-Nowicka

Karolina Piątkowska-Nowicka – z wyróżnieniem ukończyła Akademię Muzyczną w Gdańsku w klasie prof. Henryka Keszkowskiego. W latach 2004-2006 studiowała w Musikhochschule w Luzernie (Szwajcaria) w klasie prof. Sebastiana Hamanna. Wielokrotnie uczestniczyła w mistrzowskich kursach muzycznych, kształcąc się pod kierunkiem m.in. Zakhara Brona, Edwarda Gracha, Petru Munteanu, Wandy Wiłkomirskiej, Wolfganga Marschnera.
